The House–the Democratic-controlled House–quietly passed their version of ObamaCare on Saturday, providing the beleaguered Obama administration a victory they could point to.
The bill was passed by an extremely close margin, 220-215, a 5 vote margin. The vote was passed by 219 Democrats and one Republican (Joseph Cao, a first-term Republican who holds a decidedly Democratic office in New Orleans) against a coalition comprised of 176 Republicans and 39 Democrats. So much for an era of bi-parsianship…
The bill will now move to the Senate were heavy debate is expected. Hopefully the senate won’t vote on the bill in the dark of night so they could sneak it by the public without anyone knowing.
Fannie Mae has released a new program called “Deed for Lease.”
Basically what it does is simple: if you are at risk of foreclosure, you give the deed to your house to the government, you then lease your house for a year. Done! Simple!
Oh, and, after that year, you can either renew the lease, or, under certain conditions, go for a month-to-month option…
This post was written by Mr. Enos and Mr. Harrington…
So, another one for the record books. Virginia and New Jersey now have a pair of very Republican governor-elects now and New York City still has a Republican–if you can call him that–Mayor, but what will the media and the Obama administration talk about until our ears bleed? NY23.
No, it has nothing to do with the world series, what I refer to is of course the hotly contested Congressional race in New York’s 23rd district between Bill Owens (D), Doug Hoffman (C), and the certifiable Dierdre Scozzafava (R).
Why does it matter, you ask?
Quite simply, (and more pundits than just myself have said this more than once tonight), the Democrat win in New York will serve only to give the Obama Administration and the media elites–my colleague likes to refer to them as the “drive-by media”–a story to latch onto so they can sweep the 20 percentage point loss they suffered in Virginia and, more importantly, the loss in New Jersey under the rug. Tonight, average Americans voted on the policies and direction that Obama and the Democrats have set for our country, and they don’t like it one bit and they made their discontent known loud and clear for all to hear. Now, faced with the choice of acknowledging that his policies are wrong, or ignoring the obvious message that voters sent, the president is left with what should be a simple choice, except the right choice (acknowledgment) isn’t the easy choice (deny, deny, deny).
Mr. Harrington’s input:
Now, folks, I’m looking at the numbers for New York Congressional District 23–as of 10:40 PM Pacific, and, not surprisingly, Scozzafava raked in 5%…
What is the difference between Owens and Hoffman?
4%.
The National Republican Congressional Committee must be so steamed.
But, this isn’t the issue. The issue is that Conservatives kicked some major Democratic ass tonight.
Not only was a message sent to Bami–who, coincidently didn’t watch the results according to Robert Gibbs, but an even louder message was sent to the Republican Party.
The GOP shifted left, the American people sent a clear message to the GOP to get back to basics.
Also, this race shows that third parties are a tricky way to play politics. There are times for a third party, but, what ultimately needs to happen is the Republican party return to the party of Reagan: Increased Individual Liberty, Economic Freedom, and continued belief in unwavering American Optimism.
Don’t let the Liberal Elite try and convince you that Reagan Conservatism is dead because of one congressional district.
Clearly Reagan Conservatism lives in the blood of Americans everywhere.
UPDATE:
The Damage control has begun.
Robert Gibbs: ”…Anger can get you 45% of the vote.”
“We watched a party pick a candidate and then purge that candidate. And I think the result was an election (in which) that district sent its first non-Republican to Congress since before the Civil War.”
In the first of what some expect to be the first of many Republican coups, Conservative Bob McDonnell trounced his opponent, Democrat R. Creigh Deeds in Virginia. His victory is thought to be tied to heavy support from independent voters.
Conservative Chris Christie has been declared the winner of the race for Governorship of New Jersey. Moreover, incumbent Jon Corzine just conceded defeat to Christie live on FoxNews.
Across the river in New York City, the New York Post has called the mayoral race in favor of incumbent Michael Bloomberg. CNN also has the story.
UPDATES from Mr. Harrington: LOL @the people chanting “Yes we can!” at the Christie rally.
I do have to laugh at Barack Obama and Robert Gibbs…
Apparently, Bami isn’t watching the returns…Go ahead…keep your head firmly planted in your bum, Mr. President. Americans are sending you a clear message.
Gibbs also said this isn’t a sign of what will happen in 2010…
“I don’t think, looking at the two gubernatorial races, you can draw with any great insight what’s going to happen a year from now,” he said.
“The percentage of taxes on GDP (in Pakistan) is among the lowest in the world… We (the United States) tax everything that moves and doesn’t move, and that’s not what we see in Pakistan.”
While in Pakistan, our Secretary of State, the most capable Hillary Clinton said that we are taxed up the wazoo.
Stacy McCain is reporting that, after some terrible poll numbers, Dede Scozzafava has dropped out of the New York-23 race and put her support behind the Conservative Party Candidate Doug Hoffman.
Now, she hasn’t dropped out because her name will remain on the ballot. This will clearly help Hoffman even more.
HotAir is reporting:
“I suspect that Scozzafava’s withdrawal (or suspension, more accurately, since her name will stay on the ballot) hurts Bob Owens tremendously. According to the poll, Hoffman had attracted 50% of the Republican vote, while Owens had 2/3rds of the Democrats. Hoffman leads Owens among independents, 40%-35%, and the remaining 15% supporting Scozzafava will almost certainly break more towards Hoffman than Owens. Owens will likely get more of Scozzafava’s Democratic supporters, but she only had 11%, while 14% have already gone to Hoffman. Hoffman and Owens had a near-even split of the opposition in Scozzafava’s regional stronghold of Jefferson/Lewis/St. Lawrence counties, but I’d be surprised if Hoffman didn’t pick up more in those areas of disaffected Scozzafava voters, too.”
Folks, the new “Transparency like you’ve never seen before” policy shows just who has been visiting the White House.
George Soros, Bill Ayres, Jeremiah Wright, Michael Moore, Al Sharpton, Jesse “I’m the Reverend Jesse Jackson” Jackson, and Paul Krugman…just to name a few…
But let’s not get ahead of ourselves…
MSNBC is reporting that the White House is saying that some of the names aren’t who you think they are…
Bill Ayres: not that radical terrorist.
Michael Moore: Not the filmmaker.
Jeremiah Wright: Not the Black Liberation Theologian.
Michael Jordan, William Ayers, Michael Moore, Jeremiah Wright, Robert Kelly (”R. Kelly”), and Malik Shabazz. The well-known individuals with those names never actually came to the White House.
